140 BPM Songs: Two Measured Preview Picks

The available previews of Lady Gaga’s “Applause” and Marshmello’s “Silence” measured near 140 BPM in our browser-local BPM Finder. These are readings of short excerpts, not guaranteed tempos of the complete tracks. Choose the linked recording version before using either for a playlist or practice session.

Track identities and preview availability come from the linked Deezer records. The BPM figures are our raw results from analyzing each available 30-second preview with this site’s BPM Finder on October 1, 2026. We do not host the recordings.

Match the pulse you actually want

Set our metronome to 140 BPM and play the linked version of a candidate. The reference tick is 60 divided by 140, or about 0.429 seconds apart. Count one musical beat per click, rather than treating every cymbal hit or syllable as a beat. If the click and recording drift, the passage you hear may differ from the measured preview or from an exact 140 BPM pulse.

A listener might count a related 70 BPM half-time pulse or a 280 BPM double-time pulse over the same pattern. Our file analyzer reports the strongest repeated pulse it found; it cannot identify which counting level a performer meant. Say which level you use when comparing songs with a drummer or a running cadence.

Why this list has only two recordings

We tested more preview files with the same local tool. The displayed estimates for the sampled “Everlong,” “Sex on Fire,” and “Untouched” excerpts were 158.1, 153.4, and 177.2 BPM respectively, so we left them out rather than copying a broad playlist label into this one. Their result in another section or edition could change; the exclusion is about the particular excerpts we analyzed.

Our inclusion rule here is a raw preview reading within one BPM of 140. This is a transparent way to build a short listening list, not an accuracy guarantee or a claim that a whole recording keeps a fixed speed. Deezer does not identify where its preview falls in the full track, so we cannot honestly give a verified verse or chorus timestamp.

Repeat the check on the passage that matters

Follow a recording link, obtain the same available preview lawfully, and select the file in the browser-local BPM Finder. The audio stays on your device during analysis. If you need a different section of the track, play that section from a source you can access and compare your hand-tapped pulse with the Tempo Tapper. Write down the recording version and passage: a title alone does not specify an audio file.

Questions about the measured list

Are these songs exactly 140 BPM?

Our selected preview files returned 139.9 and 140.2 BPM. We show those values rather than silently rounding either one to 140 or describing the full recordings as exact.

Why could my reading be different?

You may be using another recording, another passage, or another beat level. Compare the same excerpt first, then check whether one tool followed a half- or double-time pulse.

Can I use this for a workout or rehearsal?

Use it as a two-recording starting point. Play the particular version and test whether its audible passage stays aligned with your intended 140 BPM reference before planning a timed activity around it.
